With this in mind, Dolores Canning Co. Inc., located in East Los Angeles, CA, has launched its “Bricks into Bucks” program to help youth sports’ teams, community organizations and clubs raise cash for their organizations.
The company will donate a case of Dolores Chili (eight, five-pound trays or 40-pounds) to any organization interested in selling chili cheese fries, chili Fritos, chili cheese nachos, or chili dogs or burgers in their snack bars.
With each new participant, Dolores Canning will demonstrate how to turn a 40-pound case of chili into over $600 in profits.
“It’s simple,” said Dolores Canning’s operations manager, David Muñoz. “They spend a little over $100 on supplies and chili, and we show them how to make $600 plus each time.” Although each organization's first try at selling Dolores Chili may yield more--the first case is free.
Little leagues, soccer organizations, high school booster’s programs, and school organizations can get the first 40-pound case of Dolores Chili free from Dolores. They can purchase each additional Dolores Chili at Smart & Final where the famous chili is sold in five-pound trays (or "Bricks"). The five-pound bricks, most popular for those running a snack bar, are $9.99 each.
Chili Fritos are the most popular snack bar item, which some know as “Pepper Bellies.” Add water (per directions) to one Dolores Chili Brick (five-pound tray) and the Chili Brick yields about 50, two-ounce servings. Add the cost of a box of 50, one-ounce Fritos (about $12) and that gives you a cost of about 44 cents per unit. Each Chili Frito bag can easily be sold for up to $2.00, so that’s a profit of about $78 on every Dolores Chili Brick five-pound tray.

Dolores Chili Announces Father's Day Contest Winners
Dolores Canning Co. has picked Yoselin Saucedo, 6, of Pomona and Jaqueline Vazquez, 12, of Los Angeles as their Father's Day essay contest winners.
Both recieved a free case of Dolores Chili Bricks for their respective dad and grandpa just in time for Father's Day or summer barbecuing.
Saucedo, a first grader from Alcott Elementary, talked about her dad's kindness and homework help in her essay. She also drew a picture of the two of them walking to school together.
Vazquez's essay highlighted the father figure her grandpa has become to her due to the abscence of her dad. She said her grandpa takes care of her and her family and they spend a lot of quality time together.
Congratulations to both young winners.

Father's Day Contest is Underway
Dolores Canning Co., distributor of L.A.’s famous Dolores Chili Brick, opened an essay contest to kids ages 7-13 in the LA area.
The contest falls in line with the end of the school year and Father’s Day and asks kids to answer the question, “Why is your Dad the best?”
The contest is open to kids across Southern California. They are asked to write a 250-word essay answering, which must be submitted with contestants’ information, including name, address, phone number and e-mail address. The entry deadline is Tuesday, June 15.
The winner receives a free case of Dolores Chili for their dad, and their picture will be taken and posted on the website and Dolores Chili’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The June 15 cut off allows enough time for the free case of Dolores Chili to be shipped to dad in time for a Father’s Day weekend or Father’s Day barbecue.

Add Dolores Chili to the Memorial Day barbecue line-up
The unofficial start of the summer season is this weekend, and what a better way to kick it off than with a barbecue.
So fire up the grill, make some yummy appetizers, mix a batch of lemonade and invite over family and friends this Memorial Day weekend.
Dolores Chili Brick is a perfect match for many barbecue and backyard picnic items such as chili dip, burgers, hot dogs, nachos, or a straight bowl of “red.”
For chili dip, stir softened cream cheese into a pan of Dolores Chili Brick; continue stirring over heat until cream cheese is thoroughly melted and mixed with chili. Serve with Fritos, tortilla chips or crackers.
A Dolores Chili burger is a mouth-watering favorite. Season a quarter or half-pound patty and grill it to preference. Toast the flat side of the hamburger bun and top it off with Dolores Chili, diced onions and a slice of cheese.

Chili Brick featured on Costco’s ‘Business Delivery’ page
Technology and business didn’t use to meet often in the wholesale food industry.
However, two separate worlds have collided as distributors commonly offer products on-line with fixed delivery rates, and specials and discounts.
Costco Wholesale is one. The business delivery on-line store now features five-pound trays of Dolores Chili Brick for sale.
